To explain what I’m doing in my gif: I’m cloudchasing. That means I’m trying to produce big clouds of vapor. A lot of e-cigarette users despise cloud chasers since it bears dangers if you don’t know what you’re doing.
I’m using a mechanical mod, which you can read up on in the info graphic. I also don’t have a tank or “cartridge” on my e-cigarette, like the “vape-pens” you know.
I’m running a so called “Dripper”, which you need to build coils, made out of resistance wire, yourself for.
Mechanical mods are basically “modded” flashlights, and so they take the same batteries. The special batteries for mechanical mods are called 18650 batteries. There’s a lot of them on the market, but in my opinion the only ones you should really use are the 18650VTC4 or 18650VTC5 by Sony.
These batteries have a so called amp rating. Which is the ampere limit the battery can discharge at.
A coil has a resistance (which we measure in ohms). You check it with a resistance meter.
So as the description of my gif says, the resistance of my coils is 0.12 ohms, which is insanely close to a complete short (0 ohms). This means the battery is under a FUCKING HEAVY LOAD of stress when I push the button.
So to make sure I’m safe, I’m using ohm’s law to calculate the amps that my build will pull from the battery.
A fully charged battery has 4.2 volts
E/R = I (Voltage / Resistance = Current) so:
4.2/0.12 = 35 amps.
Using this chart for my batteries, I see that I can press my button safely for 80 seconds before my vaporizer explodes in my face.
Ok now to the juice, and then I’ll shut up.
I’m making my e-liquid myself. There’s 3 main ingredients in it.
Number one is VG (Vegetable Glycerine), which makes up for MOST of my juice, around 94%.
Number two is Nicotine. I’m using 3mg of nicotine per 10ml.
Number three is flavouring. Around 5 drops of peach aroma and 2 drops of menthol.
The higher your VG to nicotine ratio, the more vapor you will get.
A REMINDER: Please don’t just jump into mechanical mods and cloud chasing. It’s dangerous, and I was hella scared first. Start with a normal variable voltage mod, til you feel save enough to go for a mechanical mod.
